More Myers' Market is on the way; more Myers' catering that is.

Mitch Myers, owner and founder of Myers Market, is expanding his business by opening up a second location to be used as an event and rental space in downtown Greencastle.

The new space is located at the old location of Chief's restaurant at 5 East Franklin St. on the square in Greencastle. The space will allow for Myers' Market to do more catering as well as hosting events.

“Hopes are that it helps expand the reach of what the market has to offer, and gives an area for the community to hold small gathering,” Myers said.

When there are events like showers or weddings that need space for catering, Myers' Market will soon be able to provide both the event space and the food. “We can help fulfill that need,” said Myers.

While the space does not have an official opening date, Myers said within the next few weeks it will be ready to use. Because it is being used for rental purposes, an official storefront opening isn’t in the picture.

Although the new expansion is a big change for Myers', the original market will stay the same. There will just be more room for the business, and opportunities for catering outside of the smaller store.

The employees are working to get the space prepared for future customers.

“[We're] just renovating and trying to get it ready painting and cleaning,” said Courtney Myers, a Myers' employee, about the work they are doing in the new space.

Many customers will be able to rent out the space to use for various types of events.

“I think customers will be very excited about it’s nice to have an area to go to that's not so big and know its going to be well taken care of,” said Vickie Ohair, another Myers' employee.

As well as helping customers, the new space will allow for opportunities for employees.

“I personally would like to move down there and work out of it,” Courtney Myers said. “It’s a different aspect than being here at the store.”

The expansion and the move will enhance the business as well as the community.

“I’m just really excited for it to come because it’s something we really need here in Greencastle and it will take off,” Ohair said.
