If you want to reward your brain, listen to the salient new album "Dopamine." Singer-songwriter and Grand Haven, Michigan native Garrett Borns, known by his stage name BØRNS, released his debut album "Dopamine" from his California studio on Oct. 16 this year.

Having released his four-track EP "Candy" just a year prior, the irresistibly catchy singles “10,000 Emerald Pools” and “Electric Love” from the EP proved to be just the beginnings of a heavily stacked first album. The twenty-three-year-old combines an arpeggiated guitar, distinguished and dominant drum and bass sounds, and his shocking falsetto voice to generate the retro, disco, indie pop style that is "Dopamine."

While each of the eleven romantic, love-themed songs on this album form a succulent, floating-on-a-cloud resonance for the ears of listeners, some very notable new tracks are “American Money,” “Holy Ghost” and “Overnight Sensation.” BØRNS’s swoopy and trancelike sounds may literally cause a release of dopamine from your brain.

Guitarist Conner Doyle, drummer Kristen Gleeson-Prata, bassist Jon Joseph, and keyboardist Misty Boyce have accompanied BØRNS while performing on his international tour. Catch BØRNS live at The Hi-Fi in Indianapolis on Dec. 12 and tune in to WGRE 91.5 to listen to some of his captivating hits.
