With a ninth place finish out of thirteen teams at the DePauw Invitational on Feb. 10, the women’s track team starts the year off with sixth, seventh and ninth place finishes through the first three meets.
The women showed a stellar performance in the 1,000m run as sophomore Tori Flowers (3:24.30), junior Gabby Coffing (3:24.80), sophomore Haley Thompson (3:33.70) and sophomore Riley Hickman (3:41.20) finished with the 2, 4, 6 and 8 place spots. This gave them 16.5 of their 34.5 total points.
There were also three places in the short-to-mid range distance events. Senior Cami Etgen finished in sixth place in the 400m sprint with a time of 1:04.56. Senior Mackenzie Jones placed seventh in the 600m run with a time of 1:58.27. Finally, sophomore Maddy Bahr placed eighth in the 800m run with a time of 2:38.80.
The team events at the end of the meet gave the women another boost of points as the distance medley team came in third place with a total time of 13:34.87. The 4x400 relay team also had a good showing coming in eighth place with a time of 4:49.16.
The Tigers now look towards the upcoming meet on Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. as The DePauw Classic kicks off at the Indoor Tennis and Track Center.
