The DePauw University women’s basketball team ended the year with a strong 66-56 win over the visiting Oberlin College Yeowomen on Saturday.

The win capped off a 20-game win streak to close out the regular season, and a record of 24-1,16-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play. The team climbed up the Division III national rankings to No. 7 in NCAA rankings.

Junior Maya Howard led all scorers on the floor with 24 points, on 8-16 shooting from the field. Sophomore Sydney Kopp and senior Emily Budde contributed with 23 points combined to help propel the Tigers to victory.

The back-and-forth affair featured 15 lead changes with the Tigers pulling away late in the fourth quarter.

The difference in the game was DePauw’s ability to shoot from behind the arc. The Yeowomen dominated the paint by out-scoring the Tigers 42-16, however, DePauw was able to sink 5-15 shots from three to close the gap.

The Yeowomen drop to 18-7 on the year with their ten game win-streak being snapped by the Tigers.

DePauw begins post-season play at home on Feb. 20 as they host Allegheny College at 6 p.m. in Neal Fieldhouse.
