The DePauw Men’s basketball team opened up the season at home with a 90-72 win over non-conference opponent Franklin College.

Senior shooting guard David Vogel led all scorers on the floor with 22 points and four rebounds. Senior point guard Mason Hankins added 16 points, along with junior power forward Andrew Kus contributing with 14.

The Tigers led at the half 41-34, due in part to their three point shooting. Sophomore shooting guard Luke Steinhart was 2-3 from three point range, notching ten points onto the scoreboard for the Tigers.

The difference maker was the team’s ability to get to the free throw line. The Tigers capitalized on costly fouls committed by Franklin by posting a 76.9% shooting percentage from the line.

In the paint, the Tigers big men dominated the game, accounting for 42 points to go along with 29 rebounds.  DePauw’s bench contributed in the match up with 26 points.

The Tigers travel to Wheaton this Friday for their first game in the Lee Pfund Classic.
