For some people, expressing their feelings about sensitive topics like their first love, first date, and first relationship could be one of the hardest things to do simply because of the emotion these moments have carried in their lives. At times, it could be hard to admit that a person meant that much to someone. There are even cases where individuals have a hard time coming up with words that’ll correctly describe what they’re feeling. For some, this is all common knowledge. For others, they feel as if something is wrong with them because they truly cannot formulate a way to present the thoughts going through their head.
Whether one admits it or not, our generation is truly attached to love songs. There are tracks that have the potential to perfectly describe our happiest and saddest moments. Realistically, almost every relationship has a song that serves as its anthem. Ultimately, it’s one’s way of using music to describe what they truly feel. Love songs are simply relatable and allow one to express themselves through them.
In the last couple of years, a term emerged as a result of people listening to music that gets them “in their feels.” That term is being “in your bag.” Being in your bag is simply a way of highlighting how much you’re showing your feelings through the music you’re listening to. It refers to being in your own world when considering your love life.
There are a variety of different artists who are the go-to “in my feelings” artists. To say the least, one of the artists who people immediately consider when brainstorming “in my bag” songs recently released a track titled “In My Feelings.” However, that track wasn’t as much of an “in your bag” track as tracks he has released in the past. Drake’s “Marvin’s Room,” “Look What You’ve Done,” and “Jungle” are three of many songs that are historically known for putting people “in their bags.” A term even came out of listening to too many “in your bag” Drake tracks: “Drakin.”
One of my favorite artists to listen to when I’m “in my bag” is Partynextdoor. Party has three studio albums but is truly versatile because he helps other artists by contributing his style to their music. My favorite Partynextdoor album is his first one that is titled “Partynextdoor.” It released back in 2013 and since then, Party has helped artists like Drake, Rihanna, Kanye West, and many more.
Music is a form of art. Art, in my opinion, is the most effective form of communication. For those lovers who have a hard time explaining to their partners how they feel, music is one of the most effective ways to do so. Simply dedicating a song to someone can serve as the equivalent to pouring your heart out and explaining how you feel. All in all, there is significance behind this music that so deeply puts people in their feelings. The reason behind it is that music creates a medium for one to communicate what they feel.
