Women's track earn first place finish at Fred Wilt Invitational

For the third time in their first four meets, the DePauw women's track team finished in the top spot, this time at the Fred Wilt Invitational held at Anderson University.
The first place Tigers totaled 101 points, finishing 28 points ahead of second place Huntington University.
Senior Jillian Balser picked up the only individual win of the meet for the Tigers in the pole vault with a jump of 3.05 meters.
DePauw's 4x400 meter relay team won with a time of 4:17.90 in the other win for the Tigers.
The 3000-meter event proved to be a key event for the Tigers. With a second place finish for sophomore Heather O'Brien and senior Siri Retrum crossing the line in third, the Tigers picked up 17 points in the event.
The DePauw women are back in action next weekend when they travel to Denison University for the NCAC Indoor Championships.
DePauw's mens track team was also in action at the Fred Wilt Invitational this past weekend. DePauw collected 41 points and finished in fifth place out of 19 teams. Wabash College won the event with 101 points overall.
Sophomore Amen Galley collected an individual win for the Tigers as he led the field in the long jump with a final leap of almost seven meters.
Sophomore Marcus Dozier highlighted the field events for the Tigers. Dozier finished third in the shot put with a final distance of 14.57 meters.
The DePauw men will travel with the women to Denison for the NCAC Indoor Championships next weekend.
