The Tigers finished first place in the Anderson Invitational, beating St. Mary's by 31 shots in the first tournament of the fall season. DePauw played 18 holes the first day, but the tournament was rained out midway through the second round. As a whole, the team shot a 303 the first day and a 151 the second day. Only the scores of Saturday were counted because of the incomplete finish for all teams on Sunday. The weather was not an issue for the team as top finishers, juniors Paige Gooch and Kelsey Smith, both shot scores lower than their averages for last year's season. Head coach Vince Lazar's expectations to win the first tournament were met, and the team hopes to make it to Nationals for the 12th year in a row.
"The expectation was to win," Lazar said. "You never know how good the freshman will be from other schools."
