The DePauw men’s lacrosse team competed in three games over spring break, winning their games against Concordia University Chicago and Hope College, and losing against 12th-ranked Denison University. The team received consistent production from their attack line throughout the three games, specifically from sophomore William Dorger. Dorger contributed two points against Denison with a goal and an assist, and helped the team bounce back from the loss to beat Concordia by contributing four goals and two assists. Dorger provided another strong showing against Hope College by scoring two goals and giving out two assists. Dorger’s total of 12 points across the three games helped him earn Tiger of the Week honors from The DePauw.

The DePauw: How do you feel the team played in their three games over Spring Break against Denison, Concordia, and Hope?

William Dorger: I think we played very well as a team in all three games. We stayed positive and played hard against Denison and learned from our mistakes in the game to then go beat Concordia and Hope and end our spring break on a positive note leading up to our game against Wabash.

TDP: What were some things the team did to bounce back from the loss at Denison to win the next two games against Concordia and Hope?

WD: Denison has a great program with a lot of tradition and experience. As a somewhat newer program, it is important to play teams like Denison and to learn from their experience to grow as a team. After playing Denison, we went over film and focused on the things that we could learn from the game and put that focus into our next two games against Concordia and Hope.

TDP: What did you do over this offseason to help you make the jump into a starting role and a greater contributor on offense?

WD: As a smaller player, I realize the importance of strength and quickness for my position. Over the summer I trained and worked very hard on both of these to improve my game, which really helped me grow as a player and allow me to contribute more to the team.

TDP: What are some of your goals for the team as you enter a long stretch of conference games? What are your personal goals for these upcoming games?

WD: Our goals as a team are to go undefeated until the end of the season, stay positive in practice and in games, and hopefully get a chance to play in the NCAC tournament for the first time in DePauw Lacrosse history.

TDP: Why did you decide to continue playing lacrosse at the collegiate level? What do you like most about playing lacrosse in college?

WD: I chose to continue playing lacrosse at the collegiate level because lacrosse has been a big part of my life since I was a kid, and it has always been a goal of mine to play in college. I like being able to represent DePauw University and being a part of a growing program that continues to impress people in the lacrosse community.
