Morgan Stearley is a senior on the DePauw women’s volleyball team. This past week, Stearley was named NCAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week for the second time for her efforts in the volleyball teams' wins over Kenyon College and Oberlin College.
The DePauw: You were named NCAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week and recorded 29 kills as the DePauw volleyball team took down Kenyon and Oberlin this past week. What allowed you to be so effective?
Morgan Stearley: My teammates allowed me to be so effective in those matches. I couldn't have been successful without having the good passes and sets to put me in a position to score.
TDP: What are your goals for the remainder of the year? Individually and as a team?
MS: My goal for the remainder of the season as a team is to keep our confidence up and work hard in practice the next two weeks to prepare us for the conference tournament. For me personally, my goal is to maintain a high level of play every day to give my team the encouragement that we can still win conference and make it to the NCAA tournament regardless of how our in season conference play has gone this year.
TDP: What made you fall in love with volleyball?
MS: Being a part of a team, and always having a support system and a group of girls that have my back, made me fall in love with volleyball.
TDP: Did you always know you were going to play volleyball in college?
MS: I didn't know for sure that I was going to play in college until my senior year of high school, but it was definitely a dream of mine since I was a little girl.
TDP: Do you try to model your game after any professional athlete?
MS: I don't try to model my game after any professional athlete.
