Republican presidential candidates may soon have to answer video questions prepared by DePauw students.
Google is asking students on 110 college campuses to submit video questions via YouTube for its Sept. 22 GOP debate in Orlando, Fla., co-hosted with Fox News.
Viewers can vote on the video questions they want the candidates to answer on the Fox News Channel YouTube page.
"I think the questions should be more geared toward students on campus," said senior Mandy Russ, DePauw's Google student ambassador.
Russ is responsible for compiling the videos from DePauw students for the debate.
She said videos should be approximately 20 seconds in length and set in locations relevant to the question asked. She added that students can use props relevant to their questions.
Students can email their videos to Russ, or post them directly to the YouTube page. She also said she is willing to film students asking their questions.
The deadline to submit videos is Sept. 19. Google is looking for at least five questions from each college campus.
Russ said Google wants to hear from a younger generation, which is why the debate's co-hosts are using YouTube.
She even asked a question of her own regarding how each candidate would go about lowering the nation's debt.
The request for questions is part of series of Google events scheduled for the coming year that Russ will be organizing.
