As we are getting into the spooky season at DePauw, there are many ways to keep this month festive such as having a spooky self-care day or night.

Here are some things you can do for some spooky self-care:

  1. Getting a pumpkin spice latte from a cafe of your choice is always a good way to start your day. You can even make it in the comfort of your own home. If you're planning on still being productive, you can implement a little bit of studying into your day.
  2. The leaves are changing colors this time of year so what better way to appreciate the beauty of fall than to go on a walk in the Nature Park? Walking has many benefits for both mental and physical health. It can decrease stress by allowing you to forget your responsibilities and just appreciate the present and nature. It also keeps you active and gives you a boost of energy.
  3. Go ahead and get yourself a spooky season pajama set. It helps elevate your mood for the season. This is coming from experience. When you are happy with what you are wearing, it releases dopamine and improves your overall mood. The spooky pajama set collections at Target are in season right now and offer a variety of options.
  4. Halloween movies are trending at the moment and they are appropriate for the spooky season festivities. It is also a really good way to end your self-care night. “Hocus Pocus 2,” a sequel to the Halloween 1993 classic, has just been released on Disney Plus. There are many other options, such as “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “The Addams Family. It is strongly suggested that you watch a movie with a sweet treat. A classic spooky sweet is the Pillsbury Ready to Bake Sugar Cookies, which come in pumpkin and monster themes.

This is a great way to reset for a busy time, so try your best to care for yourself. And even better in a spooky and stress-free way.
