After seven years as president of DePauw University, President Brian Casey has announced his departure following the 2015-2016 academic year.

Casey has accepted a job as the 17th president of Colgate University in Hamilton, New York.

“I love, and will always love, DePauw University,” Casey said in a press release on Thursday evening.

Casey has overseen an immense amount of growth in the DePauw community with oversight of “The Campaign for DePauw,” which is more than 75% of the way to its $300 million fundraising goal.

His legacy also includes the creation of “The DePauw Trust,” an endowment dedicated to supporting need-based aid that has acquired more than $56 million in funding and a growth of 51 percent in the University’s endowment since 2009.

A committee headed by Kathy Patterson Vrabeck, '85 will immediately begin to conduct a national search for DePauw’s 20th president.

Said Casey: “I promise this: I intend to bring to this work in the eight year the same energy and dedication that I have in each of the past seven years.”
