On August 26, President Bryan Casey formally invited DePauw University students, faculty and staff to the first two Ubben Lectures of the fall semester.

Since 1986, The Ubben Lecture Series has brought in a handful of distinguished speakers to DePauw’s campus each year. The Ubben Lecture Series is made possible by a gift from DePauw graduates Tim and Sharon Ubben ’58. All Ubben Lectures are free and open to the public.

This October, DePauw will welcome both Yeonmi Park and Douglas Hallward-Driemeir ’89 in Kresge auditorium. Yeonmi Park is a North Korea defector and human rights activist. She will speak on October 5 at 7:30 p.m., six days after the release of her book, "In Order to Live: A North Korean Girl’s Journey to Freedom".

On October 26 at 7:30 p.m., Hallward-Driemeier will take the same stage. Hallward-Driemier is a DePauw graduate and attorney. He argued in a pair of landmark cases for same–sex marriage assisted in persuading the Supreme Court in rulings this past summer.
