Pets of DePauw: Oatmeal

616

Pets of DePauw this week features Oatmeal, a furry feline that has captured the hearts of many.

Oatmeal is a gray and yellow striped, short-haired cat that regularly roams the streets of DePauw, often spotted around The Pulliam Center for Contemporary Art and Greek house Delta Gamma. Even though it is not yet known if Oatmeal is a stray cat without a home or if she has a home, she is a welcomed sight for students and locals alike.

Oatmeal loves being adored by humans. Her gentle characters make her an instant favorite among passersby. It is not uncommon to see people stopping in their tracks to shower her with affection and treats whenever she makes an appearance.

Leonie Nguyen ‘27, a member of the DePauw Campus Cat Allies, shared: “I have only recently started spotting Oatmeal a few times on campus, but she has been one of the sweetest cats I have ever seen. Whenever I see her, she always approaches me with a gentle purr and a friendly rub against my legs. She is always affectionate affectious and craves human interactions. I have not seen her for more than a week and I’m missing her already.”

While the true identity of Oatmeal remains a mystery, one thing is certain: she holds a special place in the hearts of those who have had the pleasure of crossing paths with her.
