Located on Washington Street sits a Greencastle staple: Myer’s Market. Offering Indiana-raised meats, made-to-order sandwiches, seasonal vegetables, and local artisan products, Myer’s aims to serve quality food options for the community.

In 2013, owner Mitchell Myers opened the butcher shop that he had dreamed of since he was in college. He wanted to sell local and regional products, providing a different store from the big-box stores in town. Now more than ten years later, he still has high hopes for his hometown and its residents. “We hope to continue to be the place that locals and students want to visit, want to bring their family and friends to, and want to enjoy a better option with the food they eat,” Myers said. “We have partnered with several local restaurants to offer high-quality, fresher products for the local food scene. We hope to continue to partner with local organizations and youth sports as sponsors or in fundraising efforts and will try to continue to do that for many years to come.”

Myer’s Market offers fresh deli sandwiches daily, served warm during the winter on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. A large variety of cheeses, breads, veggies, and meats allows customers to make the experience their own. Soups and wet salads are classic menu items alongside sides of chips, bottled sodas, and snacks. The fall brings Thursday grill-outs of ribs, steaks, and sausages. Myer’s carries midwestern USDA Prime steak cuts including Indiana-produced beef and pork, which pair well with the large variety of rubs and sauces they sell. And to those who can’t get enough, they even cater!

Tasty menu and flavorful meats aside, Myer’s values its customers the most. “We don't get to come to work and support our families if not for [our] community. The community means everything to us and has really made Myers' Market what it is, from their input on products and services that they would like us to offer to the vote of confidence they give us every time they choose to shop with us over the bigger box stores,” says Myers.

So take a walk down to the friendly butcher shop and grocer to experience carefully crafted menu items and a business that prioritizes its hometown first!
