The men’s team placed fifth out of eight teams in their second-to-last meet of the fall season this past weekend in The Nye Intercollegiate.
The match took place at the Wooster Country Club.
While the scores weren’t where the team wanted them, Head Coach Vince Lazar thought the men played well at the country club, whose course the team will be returning to in the spring.
“They left the golf course more knowledgeable in how to best prepare [for the spring tournament],” said Lazar. “They visualized what shots they’ll need to execute in the spring.
The Tigers were paced by first-year Michael Wittenberg, who tied for eighth with an overall score of 150. Senior Drake Dunaway shot a 155 for a 16th-place tie, followed by junior Quinn Smith, who tied for 24th with a 157.
First-year Sam Karcher and sophomore Tim Graham placed fourth and fifth for the team with scores of 161 and 166 respectively.
First-year Josh Krutchik competed as an invidual, shooting a 156, which tied him for 22nd place overall.
The team will be traveling to Greensboro, North Carolina this weekend to compete in their final tournament of the season, The Cardinal.
Lazar is looking for a strong finish.
“It’s very interesting to watch players perform when they’re not in school when they don’t have the burden of exams and midterms, said Lazar. “They should play pretty well."
