It has been three years since Billie Eilish released a music album, but the wait is coming to an end. Her new album “Hit Me Hard and Soft” is scheduled for release on May 17.

On April 8, Eilish posted an official announcement promising the release of her new album titled “Hit Me Hard and Soft” after a week of teasing fans with multiple hints about new music through a picture of her tattoo. This turned out to be the album’s title in the Close Friends section of her Instagram story which all of her followers were added to, accompanied by a post on April 7 of her album cover captioned “READY?”

In her announcement post, Billie Eilish could not hide her excitement, announcing that her third album comes out on May 17. The post showcased the album’s cover, which features Eilish underwater, swimming toward an open white door. Eilish then went on to share that she is so “nervyyyyy & exciteddd” for the upcoming release and “absolutely can’t wait for [the fans] to hear it.”

“Hit Me Hard and Soft” is meant to be enjoyed as a cohesive body of work. “Not doing singles I wanna give it to you all at once,” Eilish said, noting that her upcoming album should be listened to all the way through. Finneas, Eilish’s brother, per usual, plays a crucial part in the production of the album, as their work together has been proven to deliver beautiful products of creative work. It is hard not to eagerly anticipate all the songs that this duo has to offer in this full-length album.

“Hit Me Hard and Soft” marks Billie Eilish’s third album, following “Happier Than Ever”  in 2021 and “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” in 2019. Billie has remained active in the industry with music production and performance, releasing the hit “What Was I Made For?” as part of the Barbie movie soundtrack. The song won Song of the Year at the 2024 Grammys, her second soundtrack song to receive such an award following “No Time to Die,” which took home Best Original Song at the Academy Awards in 2022. With such impressive achievements in the industry over the past few years, “Hit Me Hard and Soft” promises to offer music enthusiasts the harmonious and genius work of Billie Eilish and Finneas next month.
