Buoyed by a three-goal performance from forward Julian Gonzalez, the DePauw men’s soccer team defeated Allegheny College 4-0 on Saturday.
The win clinches their spot in the NCAC tournament.
Gonzales scored three first-half goals to put the Tigers in a formidable lead as well as give him 50 all-time goals and 16 goals on the season. All three of Gonzalez’s goals were scored in the first 18 minutes of the match. He was also able to help his teammates score with an assist to Jay Wheeler in the 19th minute.
During the match Gonzalez scored his 49th goal and passed J.R. Foster’s all-time goal record. Gonzalez’s achievement came in the Tigers last home game and senior day.
The Tigers hot start allowed twenty-six different players to see the field.
DePauw moves to 11-4-2 overall and 6-3 in the NCAC. As the fourth seed in the NCAC Tournament, they will travel to Kenyon on Wednesday for a 2:30 p.m. semifinal match.
