While many DePauw seniors spend their fourth Winter Term focussing on future employment or education opportunities DePauw senior student-athletes who play winter sports focus on ending their collegiate athletic careers on a bright note.
Ann Sarkisian, a senior women's basketball player from Valparaiso, Ind. has spent her four years and four Winter Terms in Greencastle helping the Tigers post a remarkable 100-6 record during that time. While
Sarkisian said she would love to help lead her team to another undefeated national championship, she is not focusing only on basketball.
Over Winter Term, Sarkisian is keeping very busy. She is applying for jobs, working in the Admissions Office, training three clients and waiting for a decision on a potential Fulbright Teaching Assistantship in Armenia next year.
"I'm happiest when I get to put time and e"ort into the activities I love most because they have shaped my DePauw experience and helped me develop into the person I am today," Sarkisian said.
Michael Wilkison, a senior point guard and captain of the men's basketball team said he has not kept as busy a schedule as his female peer, but has spent extra time focussing on the game.
"I've tried to focus on basketball as well as put more time towards ï¬guring out my next step after graduating in May," Wilkison said.
Under Wilkison's leadership, the men's team has put together an impressive early part of the season. The Tigers are 10-3 so far with a strong win against then ï¬fth-ranked North Central College (Naperville, Ill.).
