With 24 seconds left in overtime, freshman Andy Morrison scored the game winning goal for the Tigers (8-1) recording their seventh straight win.

DePauw shutout Anderson University (4-5-1) 1-0 with Morrison's last minute goal Tuesday evening.

"The whole game I felt we were the better team," Morrison said. "We were just happy to get out of there with a win."

Morrison was happy with the win but didn't feel like the team's play was at its best.

"I feel like we didn't come in and bring our best," Morrison said. "I think we were just looking forward to the weekend and conference play."

The Tigers also faced Anderson on a new playing surface.

"It was our first time playing on turf, and it's a lot faster than our field," Morrison said. "We didn't do a great job of adjusting, and the opportunities weren't as plentiful."

Goalkeeper Nate Sprenkel, a senior, agreed that the turf field presented problems for the Tigers.

"The turf makes the ball a lot faster, and the ball will really carry," Sprenkel said. "You need to take a little off the passes or no one will be able to catch up to it."

DePauw's Tuesday night win was the fifth shutout victory in the team's last six victories.

"Our defense has been playing really well," Sprenkel said. "At the beginning of the season we were still figuring things out, but we are settling in at the time with the meat of conference play coming up."

The Tigers now prepare for a their first contest against conference opponent Kenyon College (3-5-1, 0-1 NCAC) this weekend.

"We feel confident heading into this weekend," Sprenkel said. "Our offense has been clicking, and it takes pressure off the defense and if we can play good defense to take pressure off the offense we are at our best."
