Countries and Conversation: DePauw’s Off-Campus Study Global Fair

92

On Monday, Sept. 22, the Hubbard Center for Student Engagement organized the annual Off-Campus Study Global Fair in the UB Ballroom. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., students stopped by to explore tables set up around the room and learn about the opportunities each program offered.

Students from all class years were able to speak with program representatives about studying abroad in countries such as Greece, Spain, Australia, Paris, Ireland, Japan, and Thailand, or even pursuing internship opportunities in Africa or within the United States.

Each program also highlighted available courses. Students can fulfill graduation and major requirements while exploring electives or unique classes offered only abroad. Every program ensures students can immerse themselves in the culture they step into and learn how to engage with the local community.

These programs also do their best to meet the needs of students. Though resources vary by location, most programs provide access to medical care and accommodations to support a safe, low-stress experience overseas. Staff work closely with students to ensure health concerns never stand in the way of learning.

With all the information provided, students were able to walk away with not only a fresh list of potential study destinations but also a bag full of pamphlets, contact cards, stickers, and good vibes. And of course, the free candy and snacks were an added bonus.
