Car catches fire behind Union Building

Greencastle resident Gayla Guignard was driving to see members of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra perform at DePauw's Green Center for Performing Arts Sunday afternoon when her daughter noticed smoke coming from the front of her car. She said at first she thought the smoke was steam from the road before realizing that her car was on fire.
At least one fire truck from the Greencastle Fire Department arrived on the scene to quickly put out the blaze. High flames and billowing smoke could be seen from the engine well of the vehicle, which was parking the Union Building dock along E. Hanna St.
Guignard and the two other passengers, her daughter and mother, all escaped the car unharmed. The car was eventually towed to Jerry's Foreign Auto Service in Greencastle.
Guignard said her 2003 Toyota Highlander usually operated fine and was unsure of the cause of the fire.
