Alan Hill ‘81 will be DePauw University’s next Vice President of Student Academic Life and Dean of Experiential Learning, effective August 1.

The decision was announced Monday by President-elect, Mark McCoy in an email to students, faculty and staff. Hill will take the positions of Christopher Wells, Vice President of Student Life, who will be transferring to Colgate University and Rajesh Bellani, Dean of Experiential Learning, who will serve as assistant to the president at Denison University. Hill most recently worked as the Dean of Professional Development at Wabash College.

David Berque, Dean of Academic Life and Professor of computer science, will become Associate Vice President  of Student Academic Life on July 1. Berque will report to Hill in his new position and both will become members of the president's cabinet.

"[Hill] will bring great energy, experience and insight as we work to ensure that our student experience here is among the nation's very best," said McCoy in a University press release.

McCoy said in a community-wide email that shifting the title  from “Student Life to Student Academic Life recognizes our commitment to a transformative academic experience at DePauw.” McCoy will become DePauw’s 20th president on July 1.
