Seven Tibetan Buddhist monks construct a sand mandala for peace in the Union Building lobby Wednesday afternoon. Sand mandalas are a form of worship for the monks, who travel the world construction mandalas to raise money for their refugee monastery in India. Many monks fled Tibet in the face of conflict with China. On Saturday, the sands from the mandala will be poured into the waterfall outside Prindle Institute for Ethics, an act believed to spread the peace generated from the mandala to the lands the water touches.
