The Tigers, in search of their first conference victory, fell short to Wooster (3-2) in an 56-85 loss this past Saturday on the road.

The Tigers were only able to hold this game close for the first five minutes. From then on, it would only go downhill.

Unable to capitalize on their offensive opportunities, the Tigers left it up to their defense to keep them in the game. Wooster’s excellent offensive execution proved dominant over the Tigers early in the game as they held on to a 40-26 lead when the first half came to a close.

The second half began with some optimism, but the Tigers were quickly shut down by the Fighting Scots once more. A slow start for the Tigers allowed Wooster to increase their lead to twenty by the time they had reached the midway point of the second half. By the end of the game, DePauw had succumbed to Wooster’s attack. The final result was an ugly 85-56 loss for the Tigers.

With the loss, the Tigers have now dropped three straight games, and currently sit at 2-5 on the young season.

Players, most at a loss for words, had little to say about the outcome.

“We got beat really bad,” junior guard Nate Jahn put simply.

Although a disheartening outcome, the Tigers are still optimistic that they can turn their season around. In fact, sophomore guard David Vogel thinks the team can learn from this game and be better prepared for their future matchups.

“We’re going to keep moving forward and get better as the season moves along,” said Vogel.

The Tigers will look to get back track in their next game on Saturday December 12, at 1:00 p.m. against Oberlin (6-2).
