The DePauw University women’s tennis team beat the Washington University – St. Louis Bears 6-3 just a couple weeks ago. However, WashU found their revenge over the Tigers at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Championships this past weekend.
Senior Caroine Emhardt and junior Maggie MacPhail claimed the only doubles win, after sweeping the Bears three weeks ago. The doubles tandem of junior Claire Marshall and senior Meg Crowley found their groove in singles and picked up 6-1, 6-1 victories respectively.
The Tigers bounced back in impressing fashion over University of California Santa Cruz, beating them 7-2. Emhardt and Marshall tried their skill together at doubles and came out victorious. Senior Kaitlin Pickrel and junior Julie Wittwer won their doubles match. The women’s team ended in 7th place at the conclusion of the championships.
The women and men will travel back to the University of Chicago for a head to head meet on March 8.
